29/11/2011 – Unpaid work and Volunteering in the context of Active Ageing

The ageing of the population has become a topic of central political concern within the European Union. The number of people aged 60 and over is now rising in the EU by more than two million every year. The contribution of the elderly to the economy through paid and/or unpaid work is therefore a central topic for discussion. 

This seminar aims to review the current state of research and knowledge on the issue of unpaid work and volunteering of older adults by assessing their productive potential and explaining the determinants of productive ageing.
