Around one out of six Europeans suffer from material deprivation, which refers to the inability for individuals or households to afford consumption goods and activities that are typical in a society at a given point in time. The reduction of poverty is therefore a key objective of the European Union for the next 10 years.

This seminar aims to review the current state of research and knowledge on the issue of material deprivation by discussing the current measure of material deprivation and evaluating the situation of children.
